Medival Style

Lele and Popies visit fell over father’s day weekend! We celebrated Renaissance style with a trip to the 37th Colorado Renaissance festival. I love this festival. It is truly a magical tour through time. Wandering down the village streets and pathways you can watch artisans braid amazing hair or create original works of their ancient craft in one of the hundreds of shops with medieval memorabilia. There are boo koos of authentically costumed merrymakers living and working throughout the village and performing, continuously, upon the Festival’s seven stage.  While visiting, we saw the King and Queen and 2 different royal parades with performers.

What do you need?  Belly dancing apparel? Authentic pirate costumes? Candles?  Crystal balls?  They have it all....and more!  And if you don't want to buy a costume, you can rent one to enjoy for the day at the festival and feel more one with the people.  We opted for the futuristic shorts and tennis shoe look.

This year we were even able to take in a couple of the shows.  The grown ups watched a group of bag pipers pipe out some hard rock.  Of course, the wild cat show was on top of Cole's list to watch.

Naughty, naughty.  At least I was allowed to keep my sunglasses before they put me in the stocks.

Case still remembered the elephant ride from last year and couldn't wait to ride again.

Petting Zoo anyone?  Oh wait.  That was a silly question.  Yes, please. photo IMG_0084_zps172288dc.jpg

Photographic proof that we were there.

Happy Fathers Day to the men in my life.  Thank you for your stability, love, strength and influence.  I love you.
