We made a trip to our favorite duck pond and fed the ducks, geese and even saved some bread to feed the fish. The boys attempt to "go fishing" by stabbing a piece of bread on the end of a stick and placing the stick in the water for the fish to eat. Unfortunately their attempt was not as successful as they hoped. Bread on a stick and water don't mix. Lesson learned for the boys.

We have been swimming at Villa several times. Case and Cole are really beginning to love the water which makes me a very happy mama because I was a pool baby growing up. They don't love the crowds and splashing, but they love the lazy river, making chair tents with towels to get out of the heat and eating snacks pool side.

We started a new tradition this summer Tuesday nights at Golden Corral. Since Cody has been gone all summer the boys and I have enjoyed sneaking away on Tuesdays nights to enjoy kids eat free. Case eats a steak and french fries. Cole eats pancakes and popcorn shrimp. I get a salad. And everyone gets 2 desserts! Its been a fun time the boys look forward to all week long. They ask multiple times, "Is it Tuesday yet? Is it Golden Corral night?" The boys have had so much fun looking forward to our dinner I may have to keep the tradition up during the school year. And for $15 for all 3 of us, its something I don't fret spending. Tuesday night at the Corral, Woo-hoo!
This is supposed to be an icon of Golden Corral but I can't get it to view. Boo!
Early in the summer we had some fantastic weather and I stole several moments on our front porch enjoying our beautiful garden, which I am so proud of, then shortly after the flowerbed reached their peak, hail and rain totally destroyed them. This summer we have had massive amounts of rain and flooding. Our basement has flooded twice and the massive amount of hail we encountered ripped all our beautiful plants to shreds. FYI, normally we do not have a pools in our front yard and rivers flowing through our back yard.

Despite some of the horrible weather conditions our mama robin still came back and raised 4 healthy babies. Her first batch of 3 eggs were abandoned after a massive storm but once the abandoned eggs were removed a couple days later, mama robin came back, laid more eggs and we were able to watch the babies grow and take off into adulthood.

Summer is over before it barely began and I am sad.

Now you've got Olaf's summer song stuck in my head! Looks like you've had a good summer so far! I can't believe the rain and hail you got! My parents were flooded in May and are still working to fix fence and retrieve "misplaced" items, but they're thankful for water in the ponds! So glad - and surprised - to see the robin is back. How do you know if its the same one from last year? I'm so curious!!!
