8 and 6 years old! What wonderful numbers! This weekend marked the completion of another joint birthday party for Case and Cole. Both boys decided they wanted a backyard party, so a backyard party we had. We rented a bounce house, prayed for sunshine, held our breath and waited to see if anyone would show up. The weather miraculously held out. We had a small turnout which was very manageable. The sun shone for the first 1.5 hours which allowed the kids to engage in a huge water gun fight. I had no idea a water gun fight could last that long, but it did. Cody even had to fill up the plastic water pool (aka: filling station) a second time for the fight to continue. The adults hid under the pergola in our "water free" zone. Once the clouds emerged we wrapped the kids in towels, ate Angry Bird cakes and opened presents before round two began in the bounce house. The remainder of the party kids bounced anywhere they could bounce (trampoline, bounce house) and played games like frisbee tic tac toe and ring toss. After the party was over a couple of adults snuck in the bounce house and tried out the fun. Cody and I learned that bouncing is hard work! One of the best parts was Lele, Popie, Uncle Jason and Aunt Jennie were a part of all the fun and excitement. They drove in from Oklahoma and helped with the party prep and clean up. Uncle Jason supervised and assembled Star Wars Legos for 72 hours straight. And even though Saturday was set aside for the party we squeezed in a lot of fun on Friday and Sunday, such as: car shopping, glow putt putt, a trip to Toys-R-Us for birthday present shopping and a road trip to Pueblo for the annual Chili festival where we purchased our first half bushel of roasted hatch chilies. (we are finally official Coloradans). B-u-s-y 3 days!!!!! Happy Birthday Boys!!!!
I'm so glad they know how special they are! Happy birthday indeed!
