Today we visited one of my favorite places to go in the summer, The Renaissance Festival. We spent the day going back in time visiting Lords and Ladies, Pirates and Wenches. Unfortunately my camera lens had some kind of smudge on it and all the pictures turned out foggy but they are all we have so they must be used. We watched the Celtic Legacy bang on drums and rock bag pipes, acrobatic show, part of the big cat show, jousting, a singing pirate show and bits and pieces of other events. We watched the parade and saw our favorite act the fire eater. He is just amazing. Cole wore his pirate costume for the day because... why not? It's fun to dress up and everyone else is in costume. Little did we know there was a kids costume contest. Cole entered and came in 2nd place in the pirate division! Not bad for being totally unprepared. He lost to a very charismatic 3 year old. (It's hard to beat the cute little ones.) But Cole didn't care, he was excited to just be in the top 3. The boys are also obsessed with Pirates of the Caribbean (I don't know why. They have never seen the movie). They ask me about the story line all the time. Due to their detailed questioning they are familiar with most of the characters, so an added bonus was getting a picture with Captain Jack Sparrow. I can tell one of my boys is growing up. Case didn't want to ride the elephants but it was top of Cole's list. Case was embarrassed to talk to the performers while Cole walked right up to say, hello. And Case didn't want as many pictures taken while Cole was always up for a cheesy smile. Despite growing up, everyone had a nice time. No matter how cool you are trying to be adults and big kids can all enjoy the festival.
