Trunk or Treat 2012

Even though it was only 30 degree outside the boys were still gung ho about going trunk or treating at the church.  Our family is hard core that way!  Cody was away with work so I was flying solo.  Oh my, what an ordeal to do on my own. Standing outside the car door in the freezing wind trying to dress both boys in layers, costumes, hats and gloves (gloves are so hard to put on little people) was the first challenge.  The second challenge was navigating through the uneven parking lot in the dark while carrying a camera, car keys, Cole’s candy pumpkin, an extra jacket for anyone who might need it and holding both kids mittened hands.  Third obstacle was keeping track of Case and Cole in a slew of other kids trunk or treating.  Whew!  That was a lotta work for 1 hour.  Everyone scored big and had a good time during our first wave of candy hunting.  Unfortunately since I was battling the elements, crowds, an armload of stuff and children I didn’t get very many pictures.

This was Cole’s first year to semi understanding the concept of Halloween.  Although he wasn’t able to master the phrase ‘trick or treat’ he did merrily greet most of the trunks with an enthusiastic ‘hi!’  Every now and then Cole would get so excited when someone put candy in his bucket he would holler ‘Oooo’ or ‘Yea!’  So cute!  After we blew through the parking lot the boys warmed up at home and ate multiple pieces of candy.  Case kept asking, ‘Will 3 pieces make me sick?  Will 4 pieces make me sick?’  I guess someone has been talking to him about eating too much candy.
