Surprise!

Last weekend I was able to fly home to OKC on a solo trip to surprise my mom for her birthday.  I haven't been home to celebrate her birthday since I moved 8 years ago.  Jason set up a birthday lunch with mom on the day I arrived.  He picked me up from the airport and the plan was set in action.  I popped up while he was greeting mom at the table.  She was totally surprised and said, "What are you doing here?"  Mission accomplished, hugs and tears.

The trip was a quick one, but it was so nice to be home.  48 hours isn't long, but you would be amazed how much quality time you can squeeze in when you are not distracted by kids.  I had dinner with my grandparents Friday evening.  Dinner at a resturant without kids is very different than dinner at a resturant with kids.  I did not ask the waiter for ketchup, no one ordered chicken nuggets and I didn't have to play cars while listening to others talk.  As adults, we spent 3 hours sitting in a booth talking about their life, memories and stories.  It was a very special dinner.  The next day, mom and I did some shopping, met up with Jason, saw a movie and went out to dinner.  2 hours of conversations, memories and fun.  The trip was quick, but defanantly special.  Happy Birthday Mom!  I love you!
