By 9:30 the stockings were dug into, donuts eaten, champagne and cranberry juice glasses drank and presents opened. Case unwrapped: choose your own adventure books, an osu backpack, bronco shirt and gloves, microscope, bingo game, metal detector and rock polisher. Cole unwrapped: Paw patrol scooter, bronco gear, board games/puzzles, kindle fire and legos.
All of these gifts were wonderful, but one present was missing. Cole had seen santa 3 times this year and each time he asked for an easy bake oven, unfortunately no oven was under the tree. It wasn't under the tree because the easy bake oven was ON THE ROOF! Apparently Santa left the house in a hurry because we set up a motion sensor camera to take a picture of him in action. Cole has been planning on catching Santa in the act for months! And when he saw the picture of Santa by the tree on my phone, Cole pumped his fists and said "boom! we got him!" Another Christmas victory. Anyway, the camera must have scared Santa, he left in a rush and accidentally dropped the present on the roof. How exciting! Christmas was saved.
We ate dinner late in the afternoon and struggled to stay awake the rest of the evening. Uncle Jason found the pickle on the tree that Case had hidden and a couple exciting hours of bingo helped the digestion until everyone was ready tackle pecan pie, left over santa cookies and Jesus's birthday cake for dessert. Cody, Case, Cole and I had to leave Oklahoma early over Thanksgiving break to avoid an ice storm thus cutting our family time short. Karma came back to us because all our family left the day after Christmas to avoid another ice storm in Oklahoma and was unable to stay through the weekend as planned. Even though the time together was short, our family was together and Christmas traditions lived on. Merry Christmas!
