Case had his tonsils taken out today. I have been dreading this moment since the
decision was made to take them out. He
has had strep nonstop for the last 18 months and surgery was a last
resort. I have been prepping Case for
this day for the past week. He was
great. Of course Case charmed the
surgical staff before the procedure. He
didn’t fight the anesthesia mask and let me hold him after the surgery was
over. Case rested most of the day and
took total advantage of his ‘all access ice cream pass’ by eating at least 6
cups of vanilla ice cream throughout the day.
Every time I brought Case a new cup of ice cream, the sweet little
spirit he is said, ‘I’m so lucky to get all this ice cream.’ Despite eating a lot of popsicles, snow cones
and ice cream throughout the day poor little guy was starving by the end of the
night. And even though he was supposed
to be on a liquid diet for the first 24 hours Case was pining for something
other than ice cream by the end of the night.
We ended up letting him eat some ramen noodles before bed. He ate 2 plate fulls, half a piece of
watermelon and a swiss roll. Praying
thanks for a successful surgery and I am hoping he makes a quick recovery and isn’t
in too much pain.
Cole, on the other hand, is elated that he gets to watch tv all day cuddled up in the chair eating ice cream, soft cookies, snow cones and popcicles right along his brother.

I'm so glad it went well! Hazel had no restrictions and ate "hard" food all day - and was 100% great - so I hope Case does well. Our doc advised that days 2-4 can be worse than day 1, but even so, Case should do so well. I'm praying he does. :)
