Our Gray Life: Boy Scouts

This year is the year we venture into the world of Boy Scouts. Case will join the pack as a tiger. We have been to 3 events/activities/meetings, and each adventure has been great. The scouts back to school bash was a Sky Sox baseball game and camping on the field at the stadium. Our first attempt was a bust. The baseball game went on forever and we sat through 2 rain delays. Finally at 10 pm with 4 innings left to play they announced the grounds were too wet and camping would be rescheduled. A beautiful double rainbow was our only souvenir from the first soggy campout attempt. We went home and came back the next weekend for take two which was successful. The fun was worth the wait. After the stadiums cleared, we reentered with camping gear, listened to the rules and set up camp in the outfield. The fun zone was open until 11 and scouts had unlimited access to bounce houses, baseball pitching and giant slides. The movie Sandlot played on the Jumbotron and kids played all different kinds of ball in the field. Case joined in a football game with some bigger kids and even though the bigger kids didn't want to relinquish the ball to anyone but themselves, the one time Case touched the football, he ran the entire field and scored a touchdown. Boom! That's my boy! Case also reached a milestone he has wanted to accomplish for some time now; he stayed awake until midnight. The stadium lights were shut off at midnight and turned back on again at 6:30 for our morning wake up. It was a short night/early morning and by 8 am we were cleaned up, packed up, had breakfast and back home. Everyone was arguing and in timeout by 9. Sleepy boys and a cranky afternoon is the price you pay for late nights and lots of fun. :)
