All Things New

Case has had a few new experiences this past school year. First of all, he is wearing glasses. I talked to his kindergarten and first grade teacher + school nurse and pediatrician who said they didn't recognize Case had trouble seeing. He plays video games on my phone and the kindle like a pro, reads vocabulary flash cards in the car daily and has never complained about not seeing, but my hunch was correct. The eye doctor confirmed he is farsighted. Case isn't required to wear his glasses all the time. For now, just during reading or when looking at small print. The Dr. said, eventually Case will most likely want to wear them full the time because he will be able to see better with the glasses on, but for now we are not pushing. He picked out two pairs of glasses to take home, wire rimmed frames and blue and orange Bronco frames. Everyone, except Cody, agrees the Bronco glasses are the best. :) I'm still getting used to seeing his super cute face with glasses on them, but slowly growing accustomed to the new look. I hope he rocks the glasses throughout school.

Case has also joined Boy Scouts. He is a tiger scout, attends Tuesday evening meetings with 9 fellow tigers and is working on Scout basics like memorizing the law, oath, hand shake and finger symbols. I will post a picture of him in uniform once I get the patches all sewn on in the proper place. Popie is an Eagle Scout and still very active in the boys scouts program in Oklahoma. I hope this is something they can share together which will foster and develop fond memories, sense of hard work, morals and kindness.

Finally thank you to anyone who helped Case sell Yankee candles at his school fundraiser. With every purchase, he received a themed duck at school. He could wear the ducks on a lanyard and kids with ducks also got special treats at lunch and in the hallway (i.e.: stickers, tattoos, erasers, etc). I know they're just rubber ducks, but they are all he has talked about for a month. He earned 9 ducks and the bonus bling duck. He practically reached rock star status amongst his peers with his collection. I personally don't like candles, because they either aggravate my allergies or I just can't smell them, but I have purchased one each year in support. I will be opening up a small candle store once Cole begins school.  2 candles per year, or one per child, until 8th grade = 16 giant unused Yankee candles! Plus what ever Cody buys!  Don't be surprised if they start showing up as birthday presents and in Christmas baskets.
