How can one evening seem so different than the others? Tonight after work the boys eagerly helped me
set the table while I fixed sweet potato French fries and fish sticks. The boys sat still at dinner (miracle), chatted
together and ate a huge sweet potato worth of fries. Case complimented the chef more than once. Each boy even tried a bite of my sushi rolls. Then we ended dinner with a burping
contest. Cole kept pretending to burp
and then he would say, ‘burp on mommy head.’
Needless to say we ended the meal in giggles. The boys cleared up the table, got into
jammies and we went out for a special late night treat, McDonalds soft serve
ice cream cones. Case was so
excited. He was jumping up and down
trying to get Cole amped up about going out at night to get ice cream in their jammies. Case ate an entire cone and asked if we could
do this every night. Just thinking of
baby Coles tiny tongue poking out of his mouth to lick his baby cone and how
his entire head moves up and down with each lick made me smile the entire drive
home. Bed time was push back, but for
some reason it didn’t matter. Work,
cleaning, emails, nothing seemed pressing.
Stories, kisses and bedtime. Case
asked if I could sleep in his bed all night.
The entire evening felt light, not rushed, fun and peaceful. I wish every evening could feel this
way. The wonderful glow is still
lingering.
sounds lovely. Have you put your finger on what was different yet?
