Case participated and competed in his second Pine Wood Derby with Banning Lewis Ranches Pack 228. We had one years worth of experience under our belt and the family goal was NOT to come in last place. Talking to other racers, research on the internet and the purchase of a few tools to help the building process plus some work and tire polishing = Mission accomplished. Case picked out his design. The boys cut out the pattern, polished tires, lubed the axels, weighed the car for accuracy and lacquered the burnt wood flame design with Cody's help. The competition was tight. There were several heats. Tigers, Wolves, Bears, Weblos. First, second and third place winners from each division were awarded. Then the first place winners from each division raced each other for the overall first, second and third place champion total winners. Case came in second place for Tigers division against Damion but the race was so tight they had to use photo finish and slow motion video to determine who came in first. Damion advanced to the final race for the overall champion but there was no competition against Damion and the other 1st place winners. He beat them all by a mile. Damion smoked everyone, but we were neck and neck with Damion in the Tiger division. So our defeat was a bit bitter because we actually could have come in second overall. Case was disappointed he didn't get a big win (I think Cody wished it would have turned out different as well) but in the end we were all able to see how much we improved from last year.
